Temp mail is a separate email address for receiving messages without giving a website your primary address. You may also know it as temp email or tempmail. A disposable email address helps keep one-off sign-ups, download confirmations and testing messages apart from your everyday correspondence.

A burner email is an address used for a specific task instead of your main inbox. Throwaway email and one-time email usually describe the same short-term need. You can use the default inbox for that task and keep its credentials if a follow-up is likely.

How to choose a disposable email inbox.

A disposable email address (DEA) is a separate address for a short task. Check what happens to your mail before you use one.

Check how you will return

Will you need a receipt or a second message next week? Choose an inbox you can reopen, and save its login details. A short timer may suit a one-off download. It is a poor fit for an account you want to keep.

Our main inbox can be reopened with its address and password while it remains available. Closing the tab does not set a ten-minute deadline. The separate timed tool has its own expiry.

Know who can open the inbox

Some services let anyone read mail by typing an address. Others require a password. Check the access rules and the privacy policy. Keep passwords and shared inbox links private.

HTTPS helps protect data as it travels. It does not make a service anonymous or make every email safe. An address can hide your main inbox, but sites may still use cookies or other data to recognise you.

Check the inbox's limits, the domains you can use, and the help options. A sender may delay mail or reject a temporary address. No inbox tool can promise that every site will accept it.

If a message is late, check the full address first. Then check the inbox and the sender's resend rules. For work on a phone or in an app, review the available tools rather than assuming every service has a mobile app.

Is this a free temporary email service?+

Yes. You can generate a guest inbox and receive email without registering an account or supplying your primary email address. Optional private-domain services are separate. Save your inbox credentials if you want to return.

How do I receive an email OTP or verification link?+

Copy the generated email address into the service you are using and keep this inbox open. Incoming messages appear here, with detected codes highlighted. Some services reject disposable addresses or delay messages; delivery is not guaranteed. Read the email OTP guide if a message is missing.

How long does temporary email last?+

The default inbox is reusable and has no fixed ten-minute timer. Keep its email and password to return while the mailbox remains available. The separate 10-minute mail tool expires at its displayed deadline. Neither mode is a promise of permanent storage.

Can I use temp mail as a Gmail address?+

This service does not generate Gmail accounts or addresses ending in @gmail.com. It creates inboxes on our available receiving domains. Gmail aliases and temporary email have different uses; see the temporary email versus Gmail comparison.

Can I choose a custom email address?+

Yes. Use Custom address to select an available name and active domain. A random email address is created for you by default. Private domains are only available to the accounts they are assigned to.

How does temp mail login work?+

Save the email address and inbox password, then use those credentials to reopen that mailbox. Your account password and an individual inbox password are different. Read the password and return-access guide before clearing browser storage.

Is temporary email anonymous and safe?+

A separate address reduces how often you share your primary email. It does not guarantee anonymity, remove website tracking or make suspicious messages safe. Protect your password and read our privacy policy. Use an email account you fully control for banking, healthcare and important account recovery.

Can temporary email send messages or receive SMS?+

No. TempMail Cloud receives email only. It cannot send or reply, and it does not provide phone numbers or SMS verification codes.

Is there a temp mail extension or API?+

Yes. The receiving API supports scoped inbox keys. Our integration guide provides the browser extension download, Node.js client and MCP adapter. The extension is available for developer installation, not yet as a public Chrome Web Store listing.

Does closing the tab delete my temporary inbox?+

No. Closing the page is not a delete request. Save the address and password if you need to return to the main inbox. The separate ten-minute inbox still follows its timer. See our privacy policy for data retention details.

Does deleting an inbox cancel a newsletter or free trial?+

No. A newsletter or paid plan is managed by the site you joined. Use its unsubscribe or cancel controls. Keep access to the address until you have any confirmation you need. Losing an inbox does not cancel a bill.

Does temp mail protect me from harmful links and files?+

No. A separate inbox does not make an unknown sender safe. Do not open files or follow links you do not trust. For a message about an important account, open the site's official app or type its known address yourself.
